AI for equity

During this programme for students and employees/teacher, they focuses on designing AI-driven interventions to contribute to equity in education and society. Participants explore how artificial intelligence can be used to promote equity and reduce structural inequalities. Through workshops, collaboration and creative design sessions, participants work on innovative solutions that combine technology and social impact.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is developing very quickly and is changing the way we work and learn. AI can make work processes faster, help with analysis, give personalised feedback, and support brainstorming, idea generation, creating, and adapting designs at a speed we could not imagine before. To use AI in a succesful way, we need knowledge of AI, digital skills, and strong critical and analytical thinking. These abilities are important to make sure that AI supports personal and professional goals in a useful and responsible way.

At the same time, working with AI also brings risks. There are serious questions about privacy, laws, and regulations: where does the information (data) we give go, and how is it used? Using AI also requires digital skills and access to technology, which often cost a lot. Not everyone has the same chance to benefit from AI tools or to receive proper training and support. Because of fast developments in AI and a lack of access or guidance, the gap in digital and social opportunities continues to grow. Where there used to be a gap mainly between generations, there are now also gaps within generations, caused by different social backgrounds, the attention given to AI in education, and the opportunities to practice and learn with and about AI.

This programme invites students, teachers, and professionals from all sectors to explore how AI can support equal opportunities and contribute to social and digital inclusion. Through workshops, teamwork, and creative design sessions, participants will create AI-driven initiatives that reduce inequality and make a positive social impact. We will look at practical examples, such as how AI can support personalised learning in education, improve access to healthcare, or help small businesses with innovation. Together, we will design new ideas that show how technology and fairness can go hand in hand. Join us in discovering how AI can become a driver for a more inclusive and inspiring future.

As part of the programme, the developed initiatives will be tested in prototype form within the participants’ own contexts. Feedback will be collected from real situations and stakeholders, and the results will be shared and discussed during a final online meeting.

By joining this program, participants develop a stronger understanding of Artificial Intelligence and its role in society. They learn how AI systems work, what opportunities and risks are connected to them, and how to apply AI in a meaningful way. The programme helps participants to improve their own AI literacy and to support the digital skills of the groups they teach, guide, or collaborate with.

Through workshops and design sessions, they gain hands-on experience with AI tools and reflect on ethical, social, and practical questions. This enables them to use AI more critically and effectively in education, business, healthcare, or other fields. At the same time, participants contribute to social and digital inclusion.

Programme at a glance

Online Session 1 – Introduction, AI Literacy and Personal Learning Goals (online)
01 Oct 2026 :
19:00 – 20:30 CET
This informative session introduces participants to the BIP programme, practical arrangements, learning outcomes, assessment approach and portfolio requirements. Participants explore their own experiences with AI and reflect on their current knowledge, skills and attitudes towards AI and AI literacy. The session also provides an introduction to the themes of AI, equity and inclusion and supports participants in making a first exploration of possible real-life challenges within their own educational, professional or social context.

Tasks 1
Complete a self-assessment of your current AI knowledge and skills using the provided format. Reflect on your motivation for participating in the BIP and formulate your personal learning objectives for the programme.

Tasks 2
Create a personal AI profile by describing your previous experiences with AI, the tools you have used, situations in which you apply AI, and areas in which you would like to develop further. Identify one initial challenge, opportunity or question related to AI and equity that could be explored during the BIP.
Online Session 2 – AI Literacy, Digital Inclusion and Context Analysis (online)
06 Oct 2026 :
19:00 – 20:30 CET

This session focuses on AI literacy frameworks and responsible AI use. Participants explore the relationship between AI literacy, digital inclusion and equity. Through examples and discussion, they reflect on how AI is currently used in their own educational, professional or social environment and identify opportunities and challenges related to inclusive AI adoption.

Tasks 1
Conduct a short context analysis of your organisation, school, study programme or professional environment. Explore how AI is currently used, what opportunities are perceived, and what barriers or concerns exist regarding inclusion and accessibility.

Tasks 2
Interview at least two stakeholders (e.g. colleagues, students, teachers, managers or community members) about their experiences, expectations and concerns regarding AI. Summarise the key findings and identify possible implications for equity and inclusion.
Online Session 3 – Equity, Inclusion and Challenge Definition (online)
13 Oct 2026 :
19:00 – 20:30 CET
Participants explore concepts of social and digital inclusion, discuss current European challenges related to equity, and examine inspiring examples from education, healthcare and society. Building on the insights gathered during the previous sessions, participants begin defining and refining a real-life challenge that will form the basis of their work.

Tasks 1
Select one challenge that you would like to address during the BIP. Describe the target group, the context, the problem or opportunity, and why the challenge is relevant for equity and inclusion.

Tasks 2
Prepare a challenge brief (1 pages) and a short pitch (maximum 3 minutes) that introduces your challenge, relevant stakeholders, and the possible role of AI in addressing the issue. This challenge brief will serve as the starting point for the face-to- face week.
