Healthcare Futures: Empowering Connections, Digital Innovation and Social Responsibilities
Empowering Connections, Digital Innovation and Social Responsibilities

This Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) offers an integrated, interdisciplinary exploration of how healthcare professionals can build meaningful connections and empower well-being across diverse and often complex contexts. Through the lens of digital innovation, community engagement, and psycho-social care, participants will critically examine the evolving nature of care delivery in both national and international settings. This programme is coordinated by the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) with partners Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK) and Howest University of Applied Science (HOWEST).

The programme explores the potential of digital health technologies to transform care practices, enhance cost-effectiveness, and support patient-centred decision-making, while also addressing the ethical, strategic, and infrastructural challenges associated with their implementation. Equally, the BIP foregrounds the importance of community partnerships, social responsibility, and cultural awareness in healthcare, inviting participants to actively engage with organisations addressing societal and humanitarian challenges. Emphasis is placed on reciprocity, inclusion, and the democratisation of knowledge. Finally, participants will critically engage with the concept of confinement, whether institutional, social, or situational and examine the mental, physical, and ethical dimensions of care in such environments. Drawing on arts, media, and reflective practice, students will explore interventions that promote resilience, dignity, and well-being for those affected by restricted circumstances. By weaving together these threads, the BIP prepares future nurses and health professionals to work collaboratively, think critically, and respond compassionately to the evolving needs of individuals, communities, and healthcare systems.  This programme is coordinated by the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) with partners Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK) and Howest University of Applied Science (HOWEST) with additional collaboration from the Health Service Executive (HSE) of Ireland.  The HSE are involved as key note speakers in the in person week.
