Where is RUN-EU? invites its community of Ambassadors and SKATE participants to imagine and create new stories based on the graphic representations and histories of significant landmarks in their cities. RUN-EU is a region of regions. Let us discover how it can present itself to the world.
Representations of places depend on the medium through which they are conveyed and on each individual’s mindset or disposition. A postcard, an image, or a sound on social media depicting a significant landmark depends on technique, technology, the social and economic context, and the subjective appreciation and intentions of those who create such representations, among other factors. The representation of a place requires many layers of imagination to take shape. Let us assume that RUN-EU is a place. Where is that place? What are its significant landmarks? How are they represented?
We begin with the assumption that RUN-EU is a culture made up of many cultures, and that its identity merges with each one and with all of them simultaneously. How can such a culture be represented? For this SAP, we will rely on many imaginations to find some of these representations.
Taking as a premise the heritage that defines some of the identity landmarks of each of the 10 RUN-EU cities, we will explore current representations of this “place of places” that is our European university.

By the end of this Short Advanced Programme, learners will be able to:
Explain and contextualise key concepts in cultural diversity and cultural participation, including cultural rights, cultural democracy, cultural expressions, European values, heritage, and the role of UNESCO and the European regional context. Students will be able to relate these concepts to the role of cultural institutions, creative cities, and the broader RUN-EU context.
Interpret cultural heritage as a dynamic form of representation and memory, recognising how images, sounds, stories, documentary materials, crafts, animation, and other creative expressions can contribute to the construction and communication of place and identity.
Research and document a local landmark or cultural reference point by selecting and preparing relevant graphic, visual, acoustic, craft, and narrative materials, and by articulating the stories and contextual meaning associated with them.
Know how to apply practical techniques for creative audio production, including sound capture, sound design, stop-motion and digital animation. Integrate different modes of cultural expression, including image, sound, animation, craft, and storytelling, into a coherent collaborative creative work representing place, identity, and heritage.
Work effectively in collaborative and multidisciplinary teams, taking on different roles within audio and animation crews, contributing to collective decision-making, and coordinating individual contributions towards a shared creative outcome.
Plan a communication campaign for the dissemination of the final work, translating the creative project into an appropriate communication activity for RUN-EU Day.
Priority will be given to RUN-EU SKATErs and RUN-EU Ambassadors.
In addition to this priority criterion, the selection process will seek to promote an inclusive, diverse, and balanced group of participants, taking into consideration the following criteria:
