The Short Advanced Programme (SAP) Innovative Workshop: 3D Technology and Inclusive Health is integrated into the Students’ Week within the RUN-EU General Assembly, led by the University of Burgos and co-led by the Polytechnic University of Leiria and Technical University of Liberec. The programme explores the use of 3D technologies as an interdisciplinary tool to promote inclusive health and improve quality of life through the design of low-cost assistive products for people with special needs. Combining engineering, occupational therapy, inclusive design, accessibility, social innovation, and digital fabrication, it introduces students to the theoretical, methodological, and practical foundations of accessible health technologies. Through online sessions, workshops, lectures, institutional visits, and collaborative activities in Burgos, participants will engage in international and multidisciplinary teamwork to develop innovative solutions with social impact, while fostering creativity, equal opportunities, and responsible digital practices.

The Short-Advanced Programme (SAP) titled “Innovative Workshop: 3D Technology and Inclusive Health – Short Learning for Low-Cost Products Transforming Lives to achieve equality and diversity” is an interdisciplinary initiative coordinated by the University of Burgos.

This programme provides participants with a unique opportunity to explore how emerging technologies can be leveraged to improve accessibility and inclusion for people with disabilities. Through hands-on learning experiences, participants will design and prototype low-cost assistive devices using 3D printing technologies while working collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams that bring together expertise from engineering and occupational therapy. Participants will engage with real-world accessibility challenges, developing innovative and equitable solutions that have the potential to enhance quality of life and promote independent living. The international and collaborative nature of the program also fosters cross-cultural communication, teamwork, and knowledge exchange through practical workshops, co-creation activities, and micro-interventions with peers from diverse backgrounds.

Eligible participants:

We are seeking bachelor and master degree students from all academic backgrounds. This Short Learning Opportunity is not aimed at any specific group; however, it will address issues related to 3D printing, assistive technologies, occupational therapy, engineering design, and inclusion for people with special needs.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this Short Advanced Programme, learners will be able to:

- Apply 3D printing technologies to design and prototype low-cost assistive devices tailored to the specific needs of people with disabilities.

- Collaborate effectively in interdisciplinary teams combining engineering and occupational therapy expertise to develop inclusive health solutions.

- Analyze real-world accessibility challenges and propose innovative, equitable technological interventions that enhance quality of life.

- Demonstrate cross-cultural communication skills through international hands-on workshops and micro-interventions for idea exchange.

Selection criteria

A balanced composition of gender, origin and type of studies will be achieved, so that the groupparticipating in the SAP is as inclusiveand diverse as possible. Student Council members will have priority.
