Hosted by NHL Stenden UAS in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands, this programme combines online learning, hands-on workshops, and cross-disciplinary teamwork. What connects the Moors of Spain in the Middle Ages, the Red Book of Ossory from the 14th century and the American Prohibition in the 20th century? Irish whiskey. The spirit has a long and complex history, experiencing spectacular growth in the 18th and 19th centuries, to a ruinous decline in the 20th century, only to experience a renaissance in the 21st century. During the programme, students will develop an appreciation of Irish whiskey from various perspectives, including cultural, legal, financial and sustainability.

Young people are among the most vulnerable in our society. In some cases, children grow up in disadvantaged situations, for example at risk of poverty or due to child abuse. Many young people therefore face social exclusion. Social services, provided for instance through social work and child protection, can provide innovative and creative approaches to build inclusive, safe and sustainable communities for young people and to minimise social inequalities. In multidisciplinary student design teams, you will be challenged to apply critical thinking and enhance the well-being of young people and develop innovative solutions.
